In Nuestra's thirty years of work with the communities of Roxbury and North Dorchester, we have learned that the power of relationship building and community organizing can generate small wins for our community which set the stage for greater systems change. Nuestra’s Community Organizing and Resident Services staff are committed to ensuring that Nuestra's properties and their neighborhoods are warm and supportive environments to raise families. We work with residents throughout Roxbury and North Dorchester to build and strengthen our communities. Our programs stem from our guiding value, philosophy, and objective. Our core value: Building a sense of community
Our core philosophy: We believe that sustainable change evolves from community-driven processes. We also understand that relationship building is fundamental if we want to create change driven by community members. Our guiding philosophy is that in order to catalyze positive change and create healthier communities, we must:
- foster positive relationships
- coordinate community building activities
- promote micro-communities that can harness collective potential to tackle larger problems
Our core objective: By creating opportunities for resident empowerment, we aim to cultivate community leaders that will be able to sustain change that is developed at the neighborhood level.
