Building community begins with one-on-one relationships. One of our methods to cultivate neighborhood relationships is the NeighborCircles model, pioneered by Lawrence CommunityWorks.
NeighborCircles are:
- Good conversations over dinner with neighbors
- Based on the belief that good conversations lead to relationship building and good ideas
- Safe physical and emotional spaces for neighbors to be open with one another
Our goal is to support community members in:
- Bringing neighbors together over dinner
- Discussing shared concerns
- Connecting tenants and community members to each other and Nuestra programs
To date we have supported over 10 NeighborCircles that had over 150 participants. Some have evolved into our Neighborhood Associations; click here to find out more!
If you would like support in having a NeighborCircle, our organizing staff can help:
- Connect you with residents in the neighborhood
- Plan and coordinate the dinners
