History of NCV
Nuestra Culinary Ventures (NCV) opened its doors in June of 2002 after a long planning and construction period. The idea for the kitchen incubator grew out of Nuestra’s Village Pushcart Program. As entrepreneurs began contacting us for assistance with food pushcart businesses, we became aware of the need for a certified commissary and kitchen from which these businesses could work safely and legally. The idea for NCV was born.
Modeled after a similar kitchen incubator in Denver, CO, NCV is one of only a handful of such facilities in the country. After converting an old taco factory in the Sam Adams Brewery Complex in Jamaica Plain into a 5,000 square foot commercial kitchen, commissary and office space, NCV had its grand opening in June 2002 with many culinary entrepreneurs ready to start their businesses at the new community kitchen. The number of entrepreneurs has now grown to over 50 and features a wide variety of businesses from jam producers to Cape Verdean caterers to confectioners. We continue to welcome new entrepreneurs while assisting in the growth of the existing businesses. |
