Acknowledging 15 Years of Service and Leadership
Marcia Thornhill has spent the better part of the last two decades making her mark on Boston’s housing landscape. Coming from City Hall, where she worked in the Capital Planning Office of the Public Facilities department, Marcia joined Nuestra 15 years ago as a Project Manager. Her efforts on projects such as Palladio Hall, Infill Apartments and the Dartmouth Hotel are a major factor in the success Nuestra has achieved these last 15 years. In 2002, the successful project manager was asked to take over as Director of Nuestra’s growing Real Estate Development Department. In this position, Marcia has overseen acquisition, rehabilitation and construction of several hundred units of affordable housing and commercial space, cultivating respect for Nuestra exponentially along the way. She continues to lead the Real Estate Development Department with extensive knowledge and poise. Marcia’s passion for Nuestra and its mission, Boston’s residents and her work as well as her intelligence, knowledge and instincts have gained her the respect and goodwill of all of those with whom she works. This sentiment carries over to her relationships with private and public funders, community groups, contractors and architects. Collectively, her staff of Project Managers, Gavin McLear, Diane Clark and Janet Haines speak highly of her abilities as a leader. In their words: “Marcia’s greatest qualities are her ability to anticipate what may be coming down the road and plan for it, as well as her ability to keep the perspective of team members, funders and the community at the forefront at all times. Marcia is supportive of her staff, consistently listening to our perspective within the decision-making process. At the same time, her knowledge in the field of affordable housing is respected by everyone in this department. This mutual respect is the foundation of the cohesive working relationship she has fostered within our department.” “Marcia is very proud of the accomplishments of her staff. This is demonstrated by the credit and praise she gives us at every opportunity, whether publically or privately. Marcia always encourages our growth in the field by making sure that we are involved in development projects that will challenge us and bring about recognition amongst our peers. Additionally, she encourages us to attend as many training and accreditation sessions as we can.” “We consider Marcia Thornhill a great asset and a great face for Nuestra. We feel lucky to have the opportunity to work and to learn from her.” |
