Loan Officer/SVUI Manager

Position Overview: Nuestra Comunidad is looking for a Loan Officer who will report to the Director of Homeownership Services. The incumbent will be responsible for the Management of Nuestra’s SVUI (Senior Vacant Unit) all related activities, primarily on homes where Nuestra is the home improvement lender.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Knowledge and experience with real estate finance strongly preferred
- Proficient in marketing and relationship-building skills. Uses facilitative approach and have flexibility to work with broad range of cultures, personalities, and work styles.
- Commitment to community development, low-income communities and strong work ethic
- Professional demeanor and willingness to cooperatively participate on a team in a mission-based organization
- Superior financial analysis and credit evaluation skills
- Strongly self-motivated and able to follow through in completing high-quality, detailed work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills including ability and willingness to fully follow through. Capacity to prioritize multiple tasks to meet customer deadlines while ensuring credit integrity
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, accurate, well-organized written and financial reports and to communicate verbally in an effective manner

1. Loan Program Administration:
- Oversee the administration and coordination of the SVUI Program
- Maintain annual and cumulative records related to the SVUI Program and prepare reports for appropriate agencies including city, state and national organizations

2. Loan Applications
- Process pre-qualification applications and provide credit counseling when needed
- Originate applications for bankable and non-bankable customers for home improvement loans, first time homebuyer’s, purchases, and refinances, and process according to Nuestra’s underwriting guidelines
- Work with the Construction Supervisor on the execution of rehab and new construction loans from loan closings through final disbursement of construction loan funds
- Assist customers in the placement of bankable loans, refer clients to other agencies, and follow up on all referrals made to Nuestra

3. Counseling
- Provide individual pre-purchase and post-purchase counseling for purchase programs, purchase with rehab, refinancing/rehab, downpayment and closing cost assistance, de-leading programs, Section 8 to Homeownership, home improvement loans, reverse mortgages, etc.

Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, and finance preferredf
- At least 5 years of demonstrated relevant consumer lending experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Fluent in English
- Experience in project management of real estate projects - Familiarity with federal and state housing rehabilitation programs

Nuestra Culinary Ventures Program Assistant Job Description

Brief Project Description:
Nuestra Culinary Ventures (NCV), a small business development program, seeks to help small-scale culinary entrepreneurs start and grow their own food businesses. NCV provides culinary entrepreneurs with a low-cost, shared-use commercial kitchen facility, as well as a wide range of business development services.

NCV seeks a part-time program assistant to help promote the organization and enhance the business development services offered at the kitchen. The program assistant will report to the director of NCV. The position is ideal for a self-motivated candidate who exhibits an interest in business and wishes to sharpen entrepreneurial and management skills in a professional and multicultural environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting program outreach to entrepreneurs interested in starting a food business
- Organize business workshops and trainings at the kitchen and recruit participants
- Promote the kitchen and entrepreneurs by writing press releases, communicating with partner organizations and sending out event listings
- Assist in the intake process for new entrepreneurs and maintain up-to-date files for all entrepreneurs
- Update the website, www.ncvkitchen.org weekly with new culinary entrepreneurs, events, and news
- Research and develop new marketing channels and educational opportunities
- Some administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:
- Strong people skills
- Ability and desire to work with people of different cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Self-motivated with an ability to work independently
- Experience and/or interest in business development, marketing, communications, and/or journalism
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Excel
- Proficiency in basic web and graphic design a plus
- Spanish language skills a plus
