Housing Resource Services (HRS) is a unique program in our Community Organizing and Resident Services Department that specifically focuses on supporting elders age 60 and over. Most of our clients are elders at risk of homelessness, grandparents raising grandchildren, persons with disabilities, as well as tenants and homeowners displaced through foreclosure. Our Community Organizing and Resident Services Department has housed this program since Nuestra's 2004 merger with Boston Aging Concerns - Young and Old United (BAC-YOU). BAC-YOU had operated HRS since 1983.
Nuestra’s Housing Resource Services Program provides housing counseling to low-income residents on a citywide basis regardless of age, source of income, CORI status, or housing status. Stephanie Chacker, our HRS manager works with each client, one-on-one to stabilize, advocate, and if necessary, locate the most suitable housing that meets the unique needs of her clients.
To date, Stephanie has met with thousands of elders and stabilized over 250 since 2009. If you would like more information or need help, contact Stephanie Chacker at 617-989-0894 or schacker@nuestracdc.org.
